Mainstage Theatre Haunts
“Tis now the very witching time of night,
When churchyards yawn and hell itself breathes out
Contagion to this world; now could I drink hot blood,
And do such bitter business as the day
Would quake to look on.” - Hamlet
Call for Submissions
As Autumn approaches, we slither closer to that time of year when ghosts, ghouls, and monsters emerge from shadowy corners and murky depths to take focus in our thoughts. This is a time of the scary, the spooky, the macabre.
Anderson Mainstage Theatre’s production of Nightfall with Edgar Allen Poe was originally scheduled to bring suspense and terror to our patrons in late September and early October. This year, a true nightmare keeps us from gathering at the theatre to celebrate this very horrific season. Covid-19 might physically separate us from each other, but we can still celebrate by performing and sharing our haunting stories through the ether.
Anderson Mainstage Theatre is a community theatre, so we are asking the whole theatre community to help us bring Mainstage Haunts to (un)life this October. If you have a favorite haunting poem, monologue, song, or piece of prose, record it to video, and submit it below.
Our vaporous spirits will collect the submissions, review them, and release them to our social media platforms throughout the month of October. The guidelines are as follows:
· Piece must be in public domain or under a copyright you control
· No longer than 4 minutes in length (longer pieces, split into 4 minutes segments, may be considered)
· In celebration of the upcoming Hallowe’en season
· Submitted as an .mp4 or .mov file
But don’t wait too long! Your submissions must be in by October 5th, 2020 to be considered for inclusion in our dark production for October.
